PORTWEST, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE is currently seeking applications for the role of Product Developer in Rainwear and Outerwear based in Salford, Manchester. We design, manufacture and distribute market leading workwear, safety wear and PPE in fully owned production facilities. As the Product Developer in Rainwear and Outerwear you will manage in a specific range for global markets. You will be a product expert and provide technical support for the range, working closely with our global sales teams. OVERVIEW OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Drive and delivery the growth strategy for the All Weather range through design, quality, commerciality, and sourcing. Manage fabrics, lab dips, strike offs, new product development, PP and production samples. Manage a range of products from cradle to grave. Answering sales query's, investigate and resolve QC issues. Develop new products accurately, efficiently and at competitive cost. Sourcing, developing and benchmarking new fabrics, materials, products and components for new developments. Carry out competitor research and make commercial decisions on your range in order to achieve growth targets. Present your products to a selection committee and the wider business for approval. Interact and work with cross-functional departments Travelling will be required from time-to-time to work face-to-face with other members of the product team and our supplier base Drive down the cost of product and ensure we offer maximum value to our customers Be the in house technical expert on your range Supervise the creation of full technical specifications for products Manage the delivery and approval of samples to final sealed tape stage, guiding junior members of the product team to assist in this SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Ideally 4 plus years' experience in a Product Management or Product Developer position Experience in rainwear or outerwear is essential Experience in taped seamwear is essential Relevant degree qualification in fashion The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
