Role Overview
RDP is a market leader in designing and manufacturing promotional products for globally recognised entertainment brands and IP rights holders. We are looking for a Product Buyer to manage the procurement of these promotional (non-retail) products within the EMEA/UK region. This role involves working with our suppliers, building great relationships with them, request for quotations (RFQs), purchase order processing, logistics coordination, and ongoing supplier development. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to optimise cost, quality, and delivery times, while ensuring full compliance with company and client requirements.
Your Key Responsibilities
Supplier Identification & Development
* Identify and evaluate potential suppliers through various channels, such as existing supplier lists, trade directories, and relevant trade fairs.
* Manage the supplier onboarding process, collecting essential certifications (e.g., ISO9001, ISO14001) and product samples.
* Obtain senior management approval before engaging new suppliers for quotations.
* Continuously seek ways to strengthen supplier relationships by improving quality, pricing, and reliability.
Request for Quotation (RFQ) Process
* Coordinate RFQ activities, ensuring adherence to client-specific quality assurance protocols.
* Ensure suppliers provide comprehensive quotations, including detailed product specifications, lead times, and Incoterms.
* Source competitive pricing from multiple qualified suppliers for bespoke items.
* Collaborate with suppliers and internal design teams to develop high-quality samples within expected timelines.
Order Management
* Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) in SAP, ensuring accurate data entry for market information, material testing, and quality control requirements.
* Obtain senior management approval before issuing POs, and confirm supplier acknowledgment within 24 hours.
* Support design and production approval processes, making sure artwork and sample approvals align with delivery deadlines.
* Oversee production sampling and material testing to uphold quality standards.
* Coordinate inspections, including the scheduling of third-party inspections for high-risk or high-value orders.
* Track supplier production schedules to ensure key milestones and delivery dates are met.
Compliance & Documentation
* Collaborate with the compliance team to ensure all procurement activities meet relevant standards and regulations.
* Maintain accurate records of all purchasing activities, including supplier communications, RFQs, and PO documentation.

* Take on higher-level, more complex projects that involve deeper supplier development and product knowledge.
* Develop expert knowledge of various materials, testing standards, and inspection processes.
* Collaborate with senior team members to understand and meet the intricate demands of new or more challenging client projects.
Advanced Phase (Logistics & Broader Responsibilities)
* Once you demonstrate a strong capacity to manage foundational and complex buying tasks, you will be given the opportunity to oversee additional logistics elements.
* This may include coordinating shipping schedules, negotiating freight costs, and ensuring seamless end-to-end delivery.
* Continue to refine leadership and project-management skills, positioning yourself for further career advancement within RDP.
