Principal Control & Instrumentation Engineer
Responsibilities:
1. Work activities will include both project and proposal work where both the technical approach and continuity must be aligned.
2. Project work as the functional Lead Engineer for projects as required by the C&I Group Manager.
3. Work activities for both projects and proposals will be executed across all phases of projects including Conceptual Studies; Basic; FEED; Detailed Design; Procurement through to Commissioning.
4. Projects and proposals are for process plant and facilities across the Chemical; Oil and Gas; Power and Energy Transition/ New Energy sectors.
5. Project work will include development of Instrument Engineering deliverables as required on a project by project basis.
6. Assist the C&I Group Manager in:
1. Developing corporate procedures, standards, specifications and the required design tools for compliance with the SHE policy and efficient execution of production work.
2. Defining the Development and Training needs for the discipline, support graduate and young Engineer / designer development.
Qualifications:
Essential:
1. Significant experience of Instrument Engineering Design on Medium / Large capital projects from concept to start-up.
2. Extensive Chemical and or Refinery Experience.
3. Competent of working within the C&I Discipline of a contracting organisation.
4. Competent to Lead the C&I Discipline interface with other Disciplines.
5. Very good proactive communicator. The role involves liaison with Client Engineers & Project Management.
6. Degree qualified for the related discipline.
7. Have or working towards Chartered Engineer status as a Member of the Institute of Measurement and Control (IMC) or Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
8. Proven ability for equipment specification and selection and in ensuring compliance from the suppliers, preferably within an EPC contracting organization.
9. Competent in project execution using selected design tools and techniques.
10. Competent for budget & Schedule control / monitoring and reporting.
11. Competent in design safety, constructability.
12. To be able to work to Company standards.
13. Innovative when appropriate.
14. Competent in Electrical protection methodologies.
15. Competent in Specification, technical bid analysis and requisitioning of Field Instrumentation and Analysers.
16. Competent in the application, specification and requisitioning of DCS, PLC, and SIS systems, with experience of the system full lifecycle.
17. Competent in the Specification / Design / Implementation of Hazardous Area Instrumentation (ATEX).
18. Competent in Instrumentation and Control requirements for Mechanical packages.
19. Competent in P&ID development.
20. Competent in Sizing of flow devices / control valves / relief devices.
Desirable:
1. Automation and Control life cycle activities.
2. Safety System life cycle activities.
3. Fire & Gas systems.
4. Familiarity with exSILentia software package preferred.
5. Experience of working with and leading global integrated delivery teams is preferred.
6. CompEx qualified.
