The pre-registration Midwifery programme (shortened) isa Full-time programmeoffered at BSc (Hons) or master’s level at the University of |Hertfordshire. It is an innovative, flexible, work-based course for qualified adult nurses who want to become midwives. It will develop your skills and knowledge so that you can become a responsive, confident midwife able to care for women and their babies. Focusing on holistic care, you will gain a sound knowledge of what is normal and healthy in childbearing women, enabling you to recognise and manage problems they might face.
You will need to hold a NMC full registration.
The programme consists of 86 weeks in total, with eight study block weeks, and reading and professional development time included.
During your clinical placements, you will be supported through online resources, discussions, group working and reflection sessions. We use a blended approach to theory which includes online and face to face skills sessions.
We have used a variety of learning and teaching strategies to ensure that we maintain a high standard of teaching.
Each clinical week comprises of 40 hours and is a combination of 30 clinical hours 10 hours of self-directed theory.

Successful student will be under health contract at the University of Hertfordshire and will have their tuition fees paid.
Student will receive a fixed term contract at midpoint band 5 ( no enhancements) for the duration of the course ( 86 weeks in total) from the NHS Trust where they undertake their clinical placement.
