Are you an experienced critical care nurse with a post registration qualification in Adult Intensive Care nursing? At the Churchill Intensive Care Unit (CICU), we have an exceptional opportunity to work in a nationally renowned centre for specialties such as Cancer & Haematology, Maxillofacial surgery, and one of the largest transplant centres in Europe!

Main duties of the job
* Provide holistic patient care which is underpinned by OUH values.
* Work collaboratively with the patient and their family to create a patient-centred care package, promoting active patient involvement.
* Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers, and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
* Maintain and develop high standards of nursing care, reflecting professional nursing practice.
* Maintain and develop general and specialist knowledge of nursing practice relevant to the Churchill Intensive Care Unit.
* Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be a role model to others, in line with The Code (NMC 2015).
* Demonstrate understanding and the ability to perform the role of Unit Coordinator and the responsibilities and demands of this role.
* Assist in the strategic planning of the AICU service by participating in Unit initiatives, completing necessary audits and questionnaires, and providing appropriate feedback.
* Provide leadership and supervision for junior team members in the clinical area.
* Act as a professional representative for Churchill Critical Care at a local, national, and international level if required.

Person Specification
Experience
* Postgraduate qualification in critical care or equivalent.
* Able to deliver a high standard of care for patients and always striving to improve through change and innovation.
* Able to supervise non-registered and less experienced staff to ensure effective care delivery.
* Able to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate.
* Demonstrates ability to manage, direct and evaluate nursing care for a defined caseload of patients.
* Demonstrates ability to maintain and contribute to the development of standards of practice, conduct, or decision making in conjunction with team leaders/ward manager/unit coordinator.
* Able to proactively contribute to the education of learners and non-registered and less experienced staff.
* Demonstrates ability to question and challenge nursing practice constructively to continually evaluate and improve standards of patient care.
* Able to effectively and appropriately escalate concerns to reduce risk and promote patient safety.
* Band 6 experience in CC.

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year per annum pro rata.
