Electrical Engineer

Description
We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to support the Operations Performance Team. The role will ensure electrical operations and systems are installed, used and maintained in a safe and cost-effective manner.
The role will also assist in identifying and advising relevant Directors, General Managers and line Managers of any current or future operational limitations and business and safety risks regarding equipment, support and infrastructure of electrical systems.
Please note, this role requires national travel.
Key Responsibilities
* To assess and produce competency reports for all contractors, directly employed electrical staff, identifying the need for any additional training or working limitations. Where relevant provide in-house training or assist with identifying external alternatives.
* Ensure GB Materials adheres to all relevant Regulations, Company policies and procedures and Statutory Inspections and maintenance or electrical equipment.
* Provide technical support and advice on electrical safety to the Regional Management Teams, Safety Advisors, Electricians & Electrical contractors. This will also include taking an active role where required into incident investigation as an electrical expert.
* Assist the Region with capital projects by writing User Requirement Specifications (URS) to enable projects to be delivered to Company expectations. This role will liaise with the project team and electrical contractors.
* Provide advice and guidance on new innovations, products and working methods that will have a positive impact on the business to drive operational efficiency and reliability.
* To be involved and provide technical advice for the recruitment of any new electricians or the appointment of any new electrical contracting company. Assist where required in the development of electrical apprentices and undertake any training deemed necessary by the Company.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Qualifications
* Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering.
* Ideally electrical apprenticeship trained.
* Relevant H&S training IOSH or NEEBOSH
* High Voltage training (this is ideal, but training can be given).
Experience
* Operational experience and excellent knowledge of electrical safety including the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
* Excellent knowledge of low voltage distribution, motor control systems and PLC’s.
* High Voltage (ideal but training will be given).
* Maintaining and inspecting of electrical systems.
