I am currently recruiting on behalf of a Luxury Automotive OEM based in Whitley, UK who are seeking a Health & Safety Engineer to join their team.
Job Description
As a Health & Safety Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:
* Working within the Powertrain Test Operations Team (E0-10) which is part of Engineering Operations.
* Being part of the EO10 Health, Safety and Compliance team responsible for ensuring compliance with legislation and operational requirements.
* Providing support to the Health Safety and Compliance function, mentoring and coaching managers, group leaders, and supervisors to submit technically correct documentation and investigate incidents, accidents, and audits correctly, reporting findings on a weekly scorecard.
* Focusing on compliance of documentation, compiling metrics, and presenting data to enable informed decisions.
* Encompassing all aspects of Powertrain Testing including ECPL, HV, Safe Systems of Works, Incident Investigations, and new project builds.
* Contributing to significant reductions in accidents and incidents and improving internal and external audit compliance.
* Interacting with a multi-disciplinary team across the organization from director to operator grades.
* Being proactive in operations and foreseeing issues in new operations and facilities.
* Using strong Health, Safety, and Compliance skills to engage with stakeholders to ensure tasks are completed safely, alongside knowledge of automotive quality Compliance (ITAF16949).
Qualifications / Skills Needed
* Experience working with multi-functional engineering teams.
* Good practical understanding of the risk assessment process and ability to apply it to new and novel engineering activities.
* Proven supervisory/management experience.
* Experience with ISO 45001/9001/14001 and ITAF16949 compliance.
* Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
* Comprehensive MS Office experience.
* Ability to mentor and train others.
* A full UK Driving Licence with less than 6 penalty points, no disqualifications, and a 2-year accident-free record.
* A General certificate (Level 3) Health and Safety Qualification (e.g., NEBOSH certificate).
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in health and safety and compliance in an engineering/technical field.
* A 9001 auditor qualification.
