Hays Accountancy and Finance are exclusively partnering with a well-established small/medium-sized organisation that are part of an international group to recruit an experienced and hands-on Finance Manager/Company Accountant for their Gloucester, Gloucestershire office. Reporting directly to the Senior Management Team, this is the sole finance position for the Gloucester site, where you will manage all aspects of the finance function from management accounts and year-end preparation, through to transactional finance duties. You will also provide financial reports/analysis to the Group Finance team based internationally. A varied permanent accounting role where you can really take ownership of all accounting duties for the UK company within the Group, providing financial advice to the Senior Management Team.
Your new role
Your key duties will include the preparation of monthly management accounts, management of balance sheet reconciliations, year-end preparation of statutory accounts, and being the main point of contact for the year-end audit. You will provide analysis and reporting to Operational Management, preparation of overhead budgets, along with management of accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger. You will process weekly/monthly payment runs, bank reconciliations, credit control and credit application. Process monthly payroll, quarterly VAT returns with reconciliations, import VAT reconciliations, stock control, along with ad-hoc projects/duties. You will resolve any financial queries and provide weekly/monthly reporting to Group finance on forecasting/sales/invoicing/overdue accounts.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this hands-on Finance Manager role, you will need experience in a similar position, strong communication skills to partner both internally and externally at all levels, the ability to manage workloads to meet deadlines, with a high level of double entry experience. You will be comfortable with financial systems; key MS Excel skills, and be an effective problem solver who can use your own initiative. You will be hands-on and adaptable to business needs. Ideally, you will have experience within a small/medium-sized organisation. Experience with Sage 50 and Sage payroll would be advantageous but not essential.
