Job Description
We are rapidly developing our teams to support the delivery of the next phase of New Nuclear Build. Join us in shaping the future of nuclear construction in the UK.
Our Nuclear New Build business is focused on supporting major stakeholders in the nuclear sector in achieving the new build renaissance. Many of our clients are entering a long-term construction phase and your role will be to provide support to these clients during what is a critical and exciting time for nuclear power in the UK.
Working as a Senior Authorised Person in our Nuclear New Build business, you will be responsible for the day-to-day application of safety from the system within the nuclear power plant in accordance with the EDF Hinkley Point C project safety rules, all licenses, regulating bodies, and company business processes.
What you’ll be doing:
* Hold an Authorisation as SAP E&M and SAP HV.
* At least 2 years’ experience as a Senior Authorisation Person (SAP E&M).
* As a minimum, entrants will be educated to HNC in a technical or engineering field (or acceptable equivalence).
* Candidates with previous power generation, process engineering, or senior authorised persons roles may have an advantage.
* A background in equipment engineering (such as Mechanical, Piping, HVAC, Electrical, and I&C) will be desirable.
* The key part of this role is to act as a mentor and coach for those less experienced SAPs – coaching on the approach to safety rules isolation, application of HU tools, and demonstrating high safety standards.
* The role requires full-time on-site work and will progress to shift work as the project develops.
The main aspects of this role will require the development & delivery of a pipeline of work that helps us grow and then deploy capable staff as our clients’ projects move from construction through commissioning and pre-operations into operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation and regulations. This role requires a strong safety culture commensurate with nuclear and high hazard industry standards.
What you can bring:
* Prior experience in Senior Authorised Person or Authorised Person roles with knowledge of operational Nuclear Power Plants (ideally PWR technology plants), or another highly regulated industry will be desirable.
* Credible as a safety-conscious professional, with behaviours and competencies that support a strong safety and delivery culture.
* Experienced in maintenance and outage environments for operational facilities, bringing a strategic view of international best practice and the execution of work.
* Motivated to apply a mixture of technical and operational expertise to develop the right skills in our teams to support our clients in the latter stages of major nuclear new build projects and into the operational phases.
* Willingness to travel and work from client sites as the role, project, or secondment requires. This position requires you to be available to work on-site during commissioning and start-up activities.
