About the role: Behaviour and Welfare OfficerWe are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Behaviour and Welfare Officer to join our student experience team based at our Reading Campus. The purpose of the role is to ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for staff, students, and campus visitors.In collaboration with our support services, you will liaise with internal and external stakeholders and agencies to support student progress. Internal stakeholders may include students, parents, and Activate Learning staff, while external stakeholders may include Police services, Local Authority, Youth Justice, or Probation Services that work with the student body in the wider community, particularly regarding safety and welfare.You'll be collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support student progress through Trauma Informed and Restorative Practice approaches, enabling them to manage their own behaviour and learning. You will work with staff and students to raise standards and expectations to support positive behaviour on campus, promoting an “Active Bystander” culture.Working collaboratively with our Safeguarding team, you'll promote and advocate for internal support services and make referrals to these teams as appropriate to ensure students access interventions at appropriate times in order to remain on programme, achieve, and progress.This is a permanent, full-time position based at our Reading College campus.What do you need to be successful as a Behaviour and Welfare Officer at Activate Learning?Successful applicants will require a level 2 or GCSE in English and Maths Grade A to C, Safeguarding training and experience of working with young or vulnerable adults, dealing with challenging and confrontational behaviour and collaborating across a large organisation.You'll be skilled at engaging young people and developing and delivering learning activities for them.
