Purpose of the Job
Working as a key member of the Quality Assurance team, the Assistant Quality Assurance & Compliance Manager will assist the Quality Assurance & Compliance Manager to maintain and ensure site compliance in all areas of Food Safety, Food Quality, Environmental Issues, and legislative requirements relating to these topics. BRC & Red Tractor knowledge is essential.

Key Responsibilities
1. To assist with the development and implementation of a robust Food Safety & Quality System, ensuring BRC certification is maintained.
2. To supervise the daily process of all QA Operatives.
3. To improve existing processes and create a continuous improvement environment.
4. To provide effective communication at all levels of the business.
Main Duties
Food Safety
1. To identify site and system improvements to ensure Food Safety, Quality & Legal Compliance.
2. To support the HACCP system for all existing and new processing lines and products.
3. To facilitate and provide appropriate Food Safety, Quality System & Legal Compliance training internally.
4. To continually improve product quality and consistency through review of quality assessment data.
Food Quality
1. To create and complete product specifications.
2. To support the HACCP system for all existing and new processing lines and products.
Compliance
1. To support the elimination of root causes of production related non-conformances.
2. To support customer and third-party audits.
3. To facilitate and provide appropriate Food Safety, Quality System & Legal Compliance training internally.
4. To assist with the management of the site’s customer complaint system.
People
1. Ensure that all employees are working safely.
2. Training and coaching new and existing QA Operatives.
3. Responsibility to ensure that staff can perform each task within the QA remit and to rotate staff accordingly.
4. Supervise the effective use of available staff, creating efficiency in relation to the process output.
5. To assist with the completion of Risk Assessments, as required.
Hygiene
1. To ensure the compliance of site housekeeping, personal hygiene standards and pest control systems.
2. To monitor all employees for personal hygiene in accordance with the company policies and procedures.
3. To ensure the correct handling of produce within the unloading and storage process.
4. To ensure a clean-as-you-go policy.
General
1. To stand in for the Quality Assurance & Compliance Manager as appropriate.
2. You may be required to carry out other duties, which are within your capabilities and level of responsibility.

* Excellent working knowledge of the BRC standard and Red Tractor Assurance.
* Internal auditing of QMS.
* Root Cause analysis.
* HACCP Level 3.
* Food Safety Level 4.
This is a Permanent full-time role.
Working hours are Monday to Wednesday 06:00 to 18:30 and Thursday to Saturday 06:00 to 18:30 - 36 hour week 3 days on and 4 days off - Shift rotates every 4 weeks with occasional overtime.
Due to the location of the site, you will need your own transport.
