About The Role INTERNAL ONLY VACANCY Join Our Team as a Health and Safety (H&S) Adviser Are you passionate about health and safety and ready to make a real difference? Homes and Neighbourhoods, our Housing Management directorate is looking for a dynamic and effective Health and Safety Adviser to join our team. If you have a knack for engaging training sessions and a keen eye for detail, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities: Conduct engaging and informative training sessions for a wide and diverse audience. Develop, prepare, and edit accurate and appropriate Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessment Methodologies, and toolbox talks. Effectively utilise Microsoft Office and other software to create, edit, and publish high-quality learning materials. Conduct workplace risks assessments and safety inspections and order the necessary remedial actions. Understand and implement safety measures and health surveillance related to manual handling, work equipment, COSHH, noise, vibration, and dust. Stay updated with the latest health and safety legislation, best practices, and HSE guidance. Identify and resolve risks in communal areas of flats for legal compliance. Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations in the shared areas of our purpose-built flats and converted street properties by adherence to a schedule of monthly inspections and risk assessments. Work independently in various weather conditions, including walking up and down staircases in tower blocks and across estates to liaise directly with Estate Services, our caretaker staff, and other teams to ensure safe communal areas. Regularly engage with staff through dedicated classroom arrangements, video calls, and face-to-face interactions to ensure effective learning and practice. Skills and Experience Required: Confidence in conducting training sessions for varied audiences. Proficiency in using software systems for health and safety documentation. Expertise in fire safety and health and safety legislation. Strong understanding of manual handling safety, work equipment regulations, COSHH, noise, vibration, and dust safety measures. Ability to work independently and in all weather conditions. Excellent communication skills for engaging with staff. Flexibility and teamwork skills to support colleagues in other specialties. NEBOSH general certificate qualification (or willingness to successfully obtain it within weeks of hire).
