An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Community Respiratory team for a dynamic and enthusiastic Band 7 Respiratory Physiotherapists/Team Lead within West Cumbria.
Our team provides valuable services across Keswick/Solway, Cockermouth/Maryport, Workington, and Copeland localities. This is a skilled post with the expectation that you will utilise your specialised clinical knowledge to assess and treat patients with chronic respiratory conditions in a community setting. Your input into this service will allow patients to improve their functional ability and breathlessness management to make a tangible difference to their quality of life. In addition, you will undertake a joint team lead role in the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating of the community respiratory service including pulmonary rehabilitation.
You will work with the team through the process of completing the RCP Pulmonary Rehabilitation services accreditation scheme and to ensure that accreditation is maintained once achieved.
As a line manager within our team, we will ensure that you have the opportunity to strengthen and develop your leadership and specialist respiratory skills.
Main duties of the job
Duties include but are not limited to:
1. To be professionally and legally accountable (and responsible) for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care.
2. To assess, confirm (and where appropriate question) clinical diagnosis, interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts in order to develop and implement effective and appropriate treatment programmes and discharge plans for patients with highly complex respiratory conditions.
3. To undertake an advanced comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with a complex presentation, using investigative and analytical skills, and to formulate individualised management and treatment plans using clinical reasoning, and utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care.
4. To coordinate the assessment and triaging of patients with chronic respiratory disease to an appropriate rehabilitation setting, and to continually assess and monitor these patients through an exercise programme. To support other members of staff in this role.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Physiotherapy Degree or equivalent.
* HCPC registration
* Evidence of Post-Graduate training and CPD relevant to the management of respiratory patients
* Student Mentorship certificate or equivalent
* MSc Level Study in Respiratory Care
* Membership of Special Interest Group i.e. ACPRC
Knowledge
* Significant post registration experience, including post registration experience within the clinical area of respiratory
* Experience of supervision and appraisal
* Experience of multi-professional working and working with external agencies.
* Use of research skills for developing service or improving practice. Leading service development
* Evidence of using audit tools.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards of practice and guidelines for this patient group
* Knowledge of best practice in physiotherapy relating to assessment and treatment in respiratory care
* Knowledge of Health/Safety issues
* Knowledge of professional/ethical issues in practice
* Understanding of the NHS and challenges facing service delivery
* Experience in planning and executing complex discharges
