An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Childcare Supervisor at Blair Kids Club term-time and during holiday periods.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain a wider range of skills as the role involves assisting in the day-to-day running of the services and deputising in the absence of the Childcare Supervisor.
As a Deputy Childcare Supervisor, you will support the Childcare Supervisor to plan and organise the day-to-day operations of the service to provide flexible childcare to children aged Primary 1 -14 years after school.
You will assist in the provision of high-quality care and a comprehensive range of appropriate stimulating and creative activities, for example arts and crafts, storytelling, den building, physical play and organising trips and outings appropriate to the needs and interests of the children in the service.
You will be expected to work as a member of the Kids Club Team and wider School Team contributing to children's learning and development within a safe and inclusive environment out with school hours in a registered childcare service.
A flexible approach to working conditions will be required; the contracted hours are 18 hours per week, between 2.30pm - 6pm and on a rota basis during holiday periods and in-service days.
Skills & Experience Required
We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate experience within early learning or a childcare environment with a good knowledge of childcare and the relevant governing bodies (SSSC, Care Inspectorate).
The role is child-focused which requires sensitivity, patience, and compassion along with a welcoming approach to generate a feeling of trust and safety for children and their family/carers.
A genuine interest in the development of children and their wellbeing is essential, and the important qualities are kindness, sensitivity, respectfulness, and good manners and to respect confidentiality.
The individual hired will demonstrate excellent planning and organisation skills; the ability to maintain office procedures and systems, establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, parents and carers and other professionals to ensure the effective delivery of services.
No qualifications are required to apply for the position; however, you will be required to work towards a Practitioner qualification, such as a SVQ level 3 Social Services (Children and Young People) or an HNC in Childhood Practice.
You would be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of starting employment.
