The C3 team are a friendly department who pride ourselves on working together as part of a team. Our unit consists of 21 inpatient beds and Surgical Assessment Unit.
The SAU takes direct admissions from ED, GPs and also run ambulatory clinics to avoid hospital admissions so as you can imagine is a busy place to be and needs a high level of organisation.
The role of the Ward Clerk, is to assist the clinical team, enabling the smooth functioning of the unit through effective communication, general administration and appropriate interactions with patients, visitors and the multi-disciplinary team.
All activities will be under the direction of the Ward Sisters, Clinical Matron and nurse in charge on shift.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have the responsibility of providing administrative support for the ward. This will include being the friendly face of the ward, warmly greeting and directing visitors to areas within the ward and managing phone calls into the department. They will also be responsible for tracking the patients on their journey through the department, requesting and tracking notes, filing and making sure that the electronic systems are up to date as well as checking paperwork stocks.
They will need to have good working relationships with the multi-disciplinary team, including Consultants, Secretaries, other admin teams and the ward nursing staff
