Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Civils Estimator located in Leyland, with flexibility for some remote work. As a Civils Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate tender submissions for civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Working closely with the Commercial Manager to develop successful bid strategies and to develop new and expand existing relationships with the supply chain.
* Manage all aspects of the tender from receipt, through to submission and post tender queries
* Review and interpretation of tender documents, specifications, contracts & other related materials
* Attend pre-qualification meetings, mid tender and post tender reviews
* Complete take-offs from CAD drawings and production of bill of quantities
* Pricing of BoQ items from first principles
* Pricing of project preliminaries
* Prepare Sub-Contractor enquiries from tender drawings, works information and specifications making sure that appropriate levels of risk transfer are included in subcontractor enquiries
* Develop risk and opportunity registers
* Allocation of elemental BQ items into work packages
* Present completed tenders to the SMT for sign off
* Lead handover of awarded projects to the delivery team
* Assist the Commercial team with post contract variations
* Use BCIS data to elementally benchmark, TPIs for inflation forecasting & rebasing with location factorisation
* Develop and maintain workbooks of estimating norms
* Develop and maintain workbooks of supplier material rates
* Production of programmes (MS Project)
Qualifications
* At least 5 years of experience in civil engineering and infrastructure estimating
* Excellent knowledge of civil engineering and infrastructure construction processes, materials, and pricing
* High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Project
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers
* Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and prioritise tasks effectively
* Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Experience in transmission, distribution, substations and battery storage projects is desirable but not essential
* Experience in construction programming and planning
