Band 7 Team Lead - Emergency Practitioner - Oswestry MIU

We are looking for an experienced Emergency Practitioner to come and lead our Minor Injuries Unit in Bridgnorth. The Unit is well established, well attended, and provides an excellent service for the local population. We are looking for someone with exceptional leadership and acute care background. This post requires the delivery of clinical patient care together with providing leadership and management of the Unit.
Main duties of the job
1. Lead the day-to-day operation of the MIU within the department taking overall responsibility for the line management of staff and the provision of high-quality service.
2. Post holder will be responsible for working clinically and the day-to-day management of the MIU.
3. Work with other Emergency Practitioners, MDT, Clinical Service Manager/Clinical Lead and other team leaders/managers within the Trust to proactively support the development and redesign of care pathways.
4. Be responsible and accountable for autonomous assessment, investigation, diagnosis, and management of those presenting to an MIU.
5. Promote a can-do attitude and a determination to develop and sustain a dynamic operational MIU service which delivers best practice.

Qualification and Training
Essential
* Current professional registration (HCPC or NMC)
* Degree / diploma educational level training (Nursing, Paramedicine or Physiotherapy)
* Evidence of recent clinical development beyond qualification
* Possess professional knowledge acquired through degree level study supplemented by advanced education and clinical experience at Masters level or equivalent
* Postgraduate level studies in: Minor injury assessment and management or equivalent, Physical Assessment or equivalent, Paediatric module or equivalent, X-ray interpretation or equivalent
Experience
Essential
* Substantial experience in a Minor Injuries Unit / Urgent Treatment Centre / Accident and Emergency Department
* Competent as an Autonomous Practitioner
* Current knowledge of emergency care issues and NHS reforms.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* Mentorship and teaching of others
* Leadership Skills

Essential
* Wide range of clinical skills including but not limited to: Triage skills, Documentation skills using a medical model, Physical assessment of musculoskeletal injuries, Plastering, Suturing, X-ray interpretation, Use of IT systems to include EPR and other clinical management systems, Wound assessment and management, Use of Patient Group Directions.
* An ability to work independently.
