Working with a leading company, who design and manufacture high integrity doors for a wide range of industries, NRL are looking to recruit a highly motivated Mechanical Analysis Engineer to work alongside the business' sales and design teams.
This role is a permanent, fully office-based position in Bolton, with the added bonus of working a 4-day week.
About the role:
You will provide an accurate evaluation of mechanical systems, components, and structures in accordance with company procedure and/or customer specifications, using analytical tools and techniques. You will also be responsible for advising the business' sales and design teams of the theoretical performance of products to specification, via analysis/calculation output.
Responsibilities:
1. Produce hand calculations and FEA Analysis to deliver against project requirements.
2. Ensure self-prepared calculations are correct, concise, and consider all lifestyle forces/factors.
3. Work closely with design engineers to ensure designs/drawings accurately reflect the theoretical analysis, advising on modifications as necessary and logging changes in accordance with company procedure.
4. Produce written reports, presentations, and calculation documents for customer approval.
5. Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase departmental technical capabilities and improve efficiency.
6. Contribute to R&D activities as required. Discuss innovative design solutions for bespoke works with peers and superiors.
What you will need
Essential:
1. HND in Engineering, OR a bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering).
2. 3+ years' experience producing calculations and analysis in a related engineering industry.
3. Ability to generate hand and software-based calculations (unaided) in accordance with common design standards (British standards & Eurocodes).
4. Understanding of load paths, failure modes, and operating limits of steel structures/components.
5. Due to the nature of this role being on a national security facility, we can only accommodate applications from UK Nationals.
Desirable:
1. Ability to use ANSYS FEA software unaided.
2. Ability to use Autodesk 3D Inventor, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Vault.
