**This is a fixed-term/secondment for 12 months to cover maternity leave**
The Berkshire Cancer Centre is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated band 7 radiographer to join our treatment team.
We work across two sites, Reading and Bracknell, with two Elekta linacs on each site. We have full planning facilities on each site including GE CT scanners at Bracknell and a newly commissioned Siemens CT on our Reading site. Our main site in Reading also has SXT and HDR treatment units.
We are fully focused on providing the best quality care for our patients and offer SGRT for many treatment sites. We were proud to implement tattooless treatments for all tumour sites. Lung SABR has been implemented as has the treatment of oligomets.
Staff development is key and funding is available for further study provided it meets the needs of the department. All staff are Macmillan adopted which provides further opportunity for training funds.
Main duties of the job
Job Summary:
* Assist in the provision of all aspects of radiotherapy treatment service to ensure the highest level of patient care.
* Use specialist knowledge to make clinical judgments whilst adhering to departmental clinical protocols and giving consideration to complex factors, such as validity/safety/accuracy of treatment (in relation to technique, patient, etc.).
* Effectively communicate decisions to the other members of the multidisciplinary team using good negotiation skills to reach an appropriate compromise enabling the best outcome for the patient.
* Be primarily responsible for leading and managing a team of Radiographers and coordinating the day-to-day operation of a designated work area and its extended services ensuring departmental policies are adhered to.

Job responsibilities
Key Job Responsibilities:
* Act as a Clinical Radiographer in operational management of the treatment area, leading and motivating staff groups and delivering training where necessary.
* Use and develop clinical evidence-based knowledge and actively participate in, and develop pre-treatment and treatment practices.
* Actively participate in the clinical audit, research and clinical governance in relation to the development of techniques and equipment.
* Contribute to the maintenance of CHKS accredited quality system for the department.
* Ensure high technical standards are maintained during the implementation and evaluation of new equipment and treatment techniques.
* Actively participate in the staff training, education and CPD programmes, including therapeutic radiographers, assistants and students.
* Work across both sites (Reading and Bracknell) as required.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* Diploma of the college of radiographers or BSc (Hons) equivalent
* HCPC registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer
* Postgraduate qualifications or experience gained on the job equivalent to Master’s degree level
* Evidence of CPD
Experience
* Previous experience of working as a senior radiographer
* Highly specialised knowledge of all aspects of the radiotherapy pathway
