We have an opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is ready to progress their career. This opportunity will give you the construction-related experience you need to progress in your professional competency journey with RICS.
You will be part of our dynamic and collaborative team in our newly refurbished office, creating a vibrant, modern, and professional environment. You will work closely with senior members of the team supporting the delivery of a variety of projects across different sectors and clients, with significant project values ranging from £1m to £50m.
What you need to do to be effective in this role:
1. Assisting with the day-to-day delivery of projects
2. Building relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors
3. Assisting with the preparation of cost estimates
4. Evaluating the cost of building designs and alternative proposals
5. Assisting with the preparation, issue, evaluation, and reporting of tenders
6. Attending and being actively involved in client and contractor meetings
7. Advising upon contract terms and the preparation of building contract documentation
8. Agreement of monthly valuations
9. Preparation of monthly cost reports
10. Valuing and agreeing post-contract variations
11. Assisting in the preparation and agreement of final accounts
12. Developing skills to provide a single point of contact, taking responsibility for all aspects of a project
13. Attending construction sites to gain a better understanding of construction technology and assess contractor applications for payment
The skills and experience you need to have for this role:
1. Relevant degree in quantity surveying or a similar RICS accredited course
2. Working towards MRICS status or a desire to commence
3. Experience using Microsoft Office software
4. Proficient in Microsoft Excel in particular
5. Experience with relevant QS Software applications, such as CostX, Bluebeam, etc., is desirable
6. Good communication skills
7. Experience in report writing
