Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are recruiting for Strategic Supply Chain Manager role to join our team responsible for managing the strategic development and performance improvement of our Supply Chain team at our Staverton site. The Role: As a Strategic Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for execution of the supply chain commodity strategy and rationalisation programmes. You will be responsible for the effective and timely delivery of supply improvement projects and the integration of new adoptions and acquisitions into the supply chain team. This is a key role in the supply chain team management structure with the expectation to deliver improved supplier performance and to develop the strategic talents of the wider Supply Chain team. Key accountabilities of the position. Managing category procurement planning and strategy development of existing supply chain Responsibility for managing the contract landscape by commodity to support supplier engagement and rationalisation Presenting solutions for proactive cost management to support business financial budgets Collaborating across the business deliver commercial solutions to support the need to retain competitiveness in the marketplace. Support business SIOP processes with clear supply strategies and plans that facilitate accurate delivery forecasts to the business and customers. Collaborate with tactical team and production planning to establish forecasting process that facilitates full visibility to suppliers for more accurate planning and delivery with best cost solutions. Project and communicate cost variances, positive or negative, and deliver opportunities for total cost of acquisition reduction suggestions and plans to support business financial budgets. Collaborate across all business teams and encourage/present positive supply chain working relationships with key stakeholders Undertake supplier site visits as and when required Collaborate with Supply Chain Tactical team and Supplier Quality to identify and execute supplier improvement projects that support supplier improvement requirements Present weekly and monthly performance measures to demonstrate continuous improvement to supplier and team performance Collaborate across functions to manage blockers that inhibit tactical teams’ ability to succeed Empower the strategic team to make decisions within the boundaries of business approval limits ensuring business financial and performance budgets are realised. Other Responsibilities: Ensure compliance to all business policies and procedures and where applicable offer suggestions for continuous improvement of processes. Ensure compliance to regulatory requirements for suppliers, ethical trading standards and flow down of customer quality and delivery terms as required by the business. Develop and grow the capabilities of the wider team through nurturing existing talents and support personal and professional growth. Undertake other duties commensurate with the role that may be required to support business needs. Knowledge, Skills & Experience: 5 years of experience in a project management or commodity management role Experience of machining / mechanical products within a regulated industry preferable. CIPS level 4 or equivalent qualification from a recognised educational academic board or equivalent professional experience. Ability to empower and inspire teams to deliver excellence. Ability to nurture individuals and develop plans for personal growth Ability to assess risk and establish risks management or mitigation plans Excellent negotiation, organisational and communication skills Commercially minded with an ability to deliver “outside of the box” solutions to commercial problems.
