As the Crane Teams Electrical Team Leader, you will lead a multi-disciplined team, predominantly carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), repairs, and improvements on approximately 90 electric overhead travelling cranes (E.O.T. C’s) and other lifting equipment across the Stocksbridge site.
Your team’s focus is to improve performance and reliability of all cranes, ranging from Kg to 80 Tonnes safe working load (SWL). Responding to breakdowns and developing repair strategies, you will support the Shift Management team’s (Production and Engineering) to ensure Safety, Quality and Production Plans are met.

The Role of the Crane Electrical Team Leader
8. We are looking for an apprentice trained technician with significant experience in Electrical inspection and repair work in a heavy industrial environment preferably involving Crane maintenance and fault finding.
9. You will be a driven individual who wants to develop and broaden your skillset to enhance your career progression within Liberty Speciality Steels.
10. You will use the specialist training provided during your employment to drive for improvements. The opportunity to pursue academic and non-vocational managerial qualifications to support the role is also available and encouraged.
11. Lead a multidisciplined team of skilled and apprentice craftsmen to execute the PPM schedule in line with daily/weekly plans to ensure the smooth running of the production.
12. Report schedule adherence and feedback issues and resolutions.
13. Assist section engineers with forward planning.
14. Create written RAMS and job technical descriptions (JTD’s) for routine and nonroutine tasks.
15. Keep accurate maintenance records on CMMS and ensure the craft team feedback quality information for all work conducted in a timely manner.
16. Provide technical expertise to craft team members as required.
17. Put forward recommendations for and assist section engineers in plant improvements.
18. Plan labour and material requirements for plant needs as specified by Section Engineers.
19. Planning and delegating activities of Team Members and contractors, through monitoring and controlling attendance and holidays.
20. Delivery of technical and safety training.
21. Undertake Technician role as required.
22. Coordinate and supervise other services and contractors.
23. Deputise for section Engineer.
24. Ensure business health and safety instructions are followed e.g. Permit’s to work, Working at height, Hot work, through both planning and supervision.
25. Involvement in plant improvement projects.
26. Respond to breakdowns as required.
27. Deliver business communications to team (business performance and safety briefs).
Required of the Crane Electrical Team Leader
28. As the Crane Team Electrical Team Leader, you will be expected to have knowledge of all the above and be focused on management of Safety, Health & Environment, and people.
29. You should have a high technical ability and be the first point of call for problem solving. You should have a Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) mindset and be able to suggest inspection improvements and failure reduction measures.
Knowledge and Experience
30. A recognised electrical engineering apprenticeship (Preferably HNC but minimum ONC level or equivalent).
31. Sound plant engineering knowledge and experience of industrial systems such as: AC & DC circuits PLCs Heavy machinery
32. Self-starting driven individual capable of leading a small team
33. Ability to work with cross functional groups
34. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to methodically fault find any issues to root cause and front-line rectification.
35. Experience of working under permit systems previously or has knowledge of how permit systems operate
36. A customer focussed attitude with an understanding of prioritisation with current resources
Working Pattern of the Crane Electrical Team Leader
This role is 8-hour day shifts including weekend work with days off in the week.
