Learning Assistant (Fixed Term)
Location: Port William Primary School
Salary: £9,003.57 - £9,559.60
We are seeking to appoint a capable and enthusiastic Learning Assistant with the desired personal qualities and skills to join the staff team within Douglas Ewart High School Cluster based at Port William Primary. You will be required to support pupils with additional support needs to overcome barriers to their learning and reach their full potential.
This position is for 14 hours per week, 39 weeks per year and fixed term until July 2025. This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Educated to SCQF Level 4 (e.g. Standard Grade General, National 4) or equivalent, including Numeracy and Literacy.
2. Experience of working with children and/or young people.
3. Experience of working with children/young people with additional support needs.
4. A willingness to undertake training.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
