Castlefield Recruitment are working with Wakefield Council to support them in the recruitment of two Senior Category Managers.
These roles offer an opportunity to make a real impact, contributing to efficient and value-driven procurement strategies that support both the organisation and the community.
One of the positions will be focusing on the Business Category, which includes ICT, HR, and Finance. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to lead high-volume, high-impact procurement activities, delivering value for money and innovative solutions across essential services.
You’ll play a pivotal role in full end-to-end procurement, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and best value outcomes. Current projects include replacing the Leisure booking system and working on the City Fibre initiative, focusing on procuring a comprehensive Wi-Fi network for the area.
The other role covers the Public Health, Adults Social Care and Children and Young People category. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to lead high-impact procurement activities, delivering value for money and innovative solutions across essential services.
You’ll play a pivotal role in full end-to-end procurement, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and best value outcomes. Current projects include Domestic Abuse services and Domiciliary Care services with contracts in value of £40 million.
As a Senior Category Manager, you will:
* Lead and manage a team of procurement professionals.
* Oversee key spend categories and end-to-end procurement activities
* Develop and implement category-led procurement strategies to deliver value for money
* Provide expert advice and guidance on procurement matters, ensuring compliance with public sector regulations.
* Identify innovative sourcing opportunities to address business needs.
The person:
* CIPS Level 6 qualification
* Strong experience in procurement, including stakeholder engagement and contract management
* Comprehensive knowledge of public sector procurement legislation and regulations
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and develop a team
