Positions:
An opportunity has arisen for a permanent General Practice Clinical Pharmacist within Ayrshire and Arran. The post is based in GP practices across North Ayrshire. Occasionally however, you may be required to work in other areas within NHS Ayrshire & Arran.
Hours:
22.2 hours per week
In future, in accordance with AfC Terms and conditions, you may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day.

What you will do:
You will use and develop your clinical expertise (including independent prescribing where applicable), working with a cohort of patients as part of a multidisciplinary practice team. Part of the role will also include ensuring quality and cost effective prescribing within GP practices to meet NHS Ayrshire & Arrans efficiency savings.
You will support the delivery of safe, clinically effective and cost effective prescribing by providing GP practice based clinical audit and patient facing medication reviews on specific topics promoting high quality prescribing with a focus on improving cost-effective prescribing and supporting the Prescription for Excellence agenda.
You will also provide expert advice on prescribing and medicines use in a broad range of therapeutic areas and clinical settings, to GPs, nurses, other healthcare professionals and non clinical professional and provide advice for patients and/or carers regarding medicines-related issues or treatment of minor ailments, signposting to other healthcare professionals where appropriate

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
The posts require clinical expertise, good communication, organisational and IT skills along with the ability to work with patients and other healthcare professionals.
You should hold a Masters of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent and be a member of the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain (including evidence of continuing professional development).
