Where You Will Be Working
You will be based within a Specialist Education College (SEND) for children and young people with physical disabilities. This thriving environment offers learners countless opportunities to flourish. Your Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working alongside Specialist Tutors and Learning Support Workers in a college setting designed for students aged 16+ who require additional support. This role involves assisting learners with their educational, communication, and therapeutic needs while encouraging positive behavior. The college offers access to a variety of excellent facilities and partners with local charities and employers to provide enriching experiences.
Duties
10. Assist Specialist Tutors in delivering tailored lessons and activities that support learners with their education and development.
11. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and behavior support staff.
12. Provide 1:1 and group support for students with physical disabilities and learning difficulties, helping them achieve their educational goals.
13. Encourage independence in daily activities and promote social integration through structured routines and positive reinforcement.
14. Support learners with communication challenges, using specialized techniques or tools as required.
15. Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment, addressing any safeguarding concerns in line with school policy.
Criteria
16. No experience is necessary, but a full understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant is essential.
17. Experience working with children or young people would be an advantage.
18. Patience, understanding, and a dedicated approach to supporting learners.
19. A passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.
20. A desire to pursue a meaningful vocation in education.
