About the role
The logistics manager role plays a key part in the business to get our product from our global supply base to our distribution centers (UK and USA), on time. The position is for someone with flawless attention to detail, a brilliant collaborator with our suppliers and buying and merch team, and our warehouse teams; and a great negotiator to hustle for the best freight prices and schedules. You will be really keen to develop, keep on top of macro trends, and driven to hit targets.
Here’s what you’ll be working on:
1. Accountable for the operational budget on inward freight
2. Deliver operational KPIs on freight and carrier performance
3. Book and manage all freight movement across the business
4. Have a clear understanding of imports and exports into and out of the USA and UK from a global supply base including HS Codes, duties, and tariffs.
5. Own the data accuracy, visibility, and reporting at board level of all stock movement from order through to delivery to the customer.
6. Drive an improvement culture, innovating and developing operational processes and systems
7. Work cross-functionally with the buying, operational, and customer service teams to ensure we’re efficient with costs and managing customer experience.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1. Experience in managing freight inwards in a hyper scaleup physical/digital, DTC environment with a complex supply base.
2. Experience in homewares is a bonus!
3. An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
4. Ability to manage and own carrier relationships with excellent negotiation skills to ensure we have the best rates
5. A keen interest in the macro environment trends impacting shipping costs
6. Analytical and data-driven; you love to back up your decisions with hard facts, stats, and numbers
7. Project management skills such as leading developing new freight solutions or stock relocation projects preferred
8. Commercial management skills being able to conduct analysis, identify marginal gains, and lead tenders and commercial negotiations.
