The Paediatric Unit is comprised of; MacGregor Ward, a 17 inpatient Paediatric beds (including a High Dependency Bed), a Paediatric Outpatient Area, and a Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU). Main duties of the job • Play an essential role with responsibility for the education, training and practice development of the team. Ensuring the delivery of a consistently high quality and cost effective service. • Deputise for the Clinical Lead and support the ward manager as required. • Establish and maintain effective communication networks within the Multi-disciplinary Team ensuring the best possible care and outcome for children and young people. • Communicate and receive very sensitive clinical information with empathy to children, parents and members of the multi-disciplinary team emphasising the need for the maintenance of confidentiality. • Divide time 75/25 split with Facilitation/Governance role and Clinical. • Ensure the environment is conducive to learning, integrating evidence based theory & practice within the paediatric department. • Provide clinical leadership and establish high quality learning environments through teaching and continuous assessment, by working closely with the team providing individualised programmes of development. • Produce clinical competencies and deliver teaching programmes. • Work closely with the practice development team, the apprenticeship team and the learning and development department to support a coordinated approach to education, training and professional development.
