About the role:
In this highly visible and global role you’ll report to the Chief Sustainability Officer and play a critical role in enabling the delivery of Drax’s sustainability strategy (2030 Sustainability Framework); contributing to the body of knowledge and ensuring that policy decisions are based on sound science; and ensuring we meet and fulfil our corporate sustainability reporting and disclosure requirements. You’ll have regular engagement with the CEO, Executive and Board, and act as an external ambassador for Drax’s commitment to sustainability, notably with investors and shareholders.
You’ll be responsible for developing and leading a group-wide strategic and co-ordinated approach to our Climate, Nature, and People Positive ambitions, focusing on our sustainability strategic direction and reputation building, sustainability advocacy and the promotion of sound science.
Fostering matrixed relationships across whole leadership team to support learning and mainstreaming of sustainability across key workstreams and strategies will be critical to success, as will collaboration with Investor Relations in driving Drax’s engagement with investors and targeted ESG ratings agencies to build shareholder and investor confidence in Drax’s sustainability performance.
Accountable for building and implementing road maps and frameworks to enable integrating Sustainability into the business, you’ll demonstrate and ensure sustainability integration and compliance, whilst managing and responding to reporting disclosures
Who we’re looking for:
To be successful in this role you’ll have a proven track record of developing and implementing sustainability strategy and initiatives worldwide, as well as delivering sustainability reporting, disclosure, and ESG ratings whilst leading a global, high performing team. You’ll be an advocate with broad working knowledge of sustainability and issues with experience of developing the business case for change who can drive and deliver best practice sustainable business practices and standards within supply chains, whilst achieving measurable results,
You’ll possess a strong external orientation and stakeholder network with understanding of changing regulatory and policy environments, and the ability to manage complexity and bring clarity and simplicity to complex problems.
You are an inclusive leader who understands and adapts to the complexities of working across different business areas, geographies, and cultures. You’ll model high standards of performance and ethics, and effective communication and influencing skills with a collaborative approach able to quickly build good working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels. Ideally, you’ll also have an Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a Business Degree and demonstrable experience of the energy sector, forestry and/or bioenergy.
