We are seeking applications from suitably qualified Radiographer to join our team at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Shrewsbury.
This opportunity is primarily within the treatment areas.

All staff participate in on-call for emergency patients at the weekend, late rota and on call.
Main duties of the job
1. To carry out all aspects of Radiotherapy treatment in line with the requirements of the Radiotherapy Services Manager.
2. To work alongside other professional groups to develop site specific techniques to improve the quality of care for patients receiving radiotherapy in this department.
3. Ensure the needs of the patient are identified and met.
About us
The department consists of 3 Varian Truebeam Linear Accelerators, a Gulmay Unit, and a Canon wide bore CT scanner with radiographer-led palliative virtual simulation using Eclipse.
A new Canon Exceed LB CT scanner has just been installed.
We are planning to extend the SABR service to include bone and nodes soon. We have introduced SGRT and participate in tattoo-less radiotherapy.
We have an active Clinical Trials department and participate in most major trials.
Time away from work is just as important and Shropshire is a beautiful, mostly rural county where we enjoy a high quality of life.

Professional qualifications
Essential
1. Minimum requirements for University entrance but including at least one science subject at A level.
2. BSc in radiographic studies or equivalent DCRT.
3. State registration with the Health Professions Council.
Desirable
1. Has carried out research undertaking post-graduate qualifications.
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
1. Sufficient experience of working as a qualified therapeutic radiographer to have developed the technical and professional skills necessary to work at this level.
2. Wide experience with radiotherapy equipment and techniques.
3. Experience with megavoltage, orthovoltage and superficial treatment units.
4. Experience with IGRT.
5. Experience on CT and in dosimetry.
6. Experience on treatment record and verify systems.
7. Basic IT skills.
8. Knowledge acquired during BSc or equivalent training includes:
9. Oncology - Fully comprehensive and detailed knowledge of disease process and treatment.
10. Radiobiology - effects of radiation on biological systems.
11. Principles of radiotherapy techniques.
12. Application of radiation physics to Radiotherapy.
