About the Role: Lead and manage the History department, providing strategic direction and inspiring a shared vision for excellence in History education. Oversee the delivery of a high-quality History curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, ensuring that it is engaging, challenging, and relevant to our students' needs and aspirations. Lead, motivate, and develop a team of talented History teachers, providing support, guidance, and professional development opportunities. Oversee the organisation and delivery of a diverse program of extracurricular History activities, including debating societies, history clubs, and trips to historical sites. Foster a love of History in all students, encouraging them to explore the past, develop their research and analytical skills, and appreciate the importance of historical understanding in the modern world. Manage the department's budget and resources effectively. Build strong relationships with parents, external examiners, and the wider school community. Contribute to the school's strategic development and promote the value of History education. Ideal Candidate: Holds QTS or equivalent teaching qualification. Possesses a degree in History or a related field. Has a proven track record of successful leadership and management in a History education setting. Demonstrates a passion for History education and a commitment to student success. Has excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Is confident in building rapport with students, staff, and parents. Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for History and relevant examination specifications.
