The Finance Director - Commercial & Digital is responsible for overseeing Global Revenue encompassing reporting, budgeting, and forecasting as well as leading the team partnering with 4 VP’s and their respective functions. This covers Sales, Service & Marketing, Portfolio, Strategy & Strategic Partners, and Digital, along with all associated OPEX and business partnering requirements.
This position reports to the CFO and is initially on an 18-month contract. You will be part of the FP&A team located in Cambridge, UK, and will be on-site. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
1. Leading & Developing: As part of the Finance Leadership team, lead and continue to develop a high-functioning team of 6 Finance Professionals, providing clear finance leadership and partnering to the four key functional areas of the business.
2. Business Partnering & Influencing: Build strong relationships with key business leaders and their teams to drive the execution of their strategic objectives and provide financial expertise. Partner with these teams to build robust plans to deliver revenue and margin goals. Identify risks and opportunities to strategic success, leveraging internal networks and commercial experience to influence and move to action to mitigate/realise R&O. Be a key influential partner in a complex commercial business environment that ranges from fully automated e-commerce processes to human touch key account management processes to customised partnership models that include research & development and antibody sales.
3. Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead and drive the revenue and OPEX budgeting and forecasting process through the team, to empower and enable them to effectively partner business functions to build the most robust and accurate plans.
4. Financial Controls: Ensure appropriate SOX compliant controls are in place for our revenue recognition requirements.
5. Embedding Commercial Tools: Develop, with the team, appropriate commercial models and tools to support the business to deliver insightful analytics to continue to drive revenue growth and profitability.
The essential requirements of the job include:
* Qualified accountant
* Proven experience in a similar role
* 8 years of leadership experience
* Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting standards
* Proficiency in financial planning systems and tools
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
* Some travel to our Global Offices may be required
