Under the direction of the Senior Operations Manager and with the support of management staff, the Operations Manager (OM) is a people and consumer focused leader who is supportive of an inclusive culture and environment. The OM owns results for safety, right first time, compliance to plan, sanitation, labour cost, through put, yield, operating systems health, hard asset improvement and team improvement. They actively participate in annual planning, weekly PDCA meetings, DDS meetings and daily level 2 meetings. The OM is responsible for the day-to-day manufacturing needs for their assigned area by achieving safety, quality productivity, efficiency, customer service, cost and employee engagement objectives through both individual and team contributions, delivering business results and operational improvements. The OM also spends floor time capturing information on operating system health information.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Provides direction, leadership, mentorship, development and support to operational teams through empowerment, team-work, on-the-job assignments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
2. Builds sound employee relations by developing and maintaining an effective organisation with qualified personnel, including competence, absence, and performance management.
3. Develops, implements and promotes safety programs and safe work practices through involvement in plant safety team programs and initiatives.
4. Develops, promotes and supports continuous improvement and other cross functional initiatives, including NPD trials, sustainability or engagement initiatives.
5. Owns and drives the implementation of the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) standard, and ensures the quality of our products and our workplace by following all procedures and guidelines.
6. Strive to improve the efficiency of the department by submitting and implementing process improvements.
7. Follow all established GMP, HACCP guidelines, Housekeeping responsibilities and QRMP operating procedures.
8. Effectively engages in team safety efforts to achieve/exceed plant goals.
9. Leads areas of organisational change and accountability.
10. Mentors CI Lead and Maintenance Lead to identify improvements and apply problem solving techniques.
11. Conduct annual plans for process improvement and supports maintenance planning.
12. Coordinate cleaning activities within the department and can conduct checks as needed.
13. Participate in plant optimisation and provide explanation of all deviations in procedures and line process checks.
14. Maintain correct and accurate documentation for the payroll system.
15. Take leadership in routine production problem solving.
16. Coordinate period cleaning programs and monthly checks.
17. Leads L2 meetings, PDCA meetings and production meetings.
18. Flexibility to adjust to work with employees from all shifts as required.
Other Requirements:
19. A positive manager with strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling them to thrive in a team environment.
20. Ensures all safety and quality guidelines are being followed.
21. Maintains legible and accurate records and reports, and understands the plant document control and record control procedures.
22. Intermediate Excel, Power Point, Word, MII, and SAP skills.
23. Strong planning / organisational skills.
24. Writes WIs, SOPs, OPLs.
