About the Job We have a fantastic opportunity for a suitable candidate to take on a Subject Manager’s post within the Assessment Development and Delivery (ADD) team, on a fixed term basis for 18 months initially. The post-holder will lead and manage the assessment of a portfolio of subjects in Group 3, specifically Diploma Programme (DP) Geography. The successful applicant will be required to ensure the reliability, accuracy and fairness of assessment in their portfolio space. They will manage the international teams of senior examiners and assessment content developers, and be responsible for all assessment related activities for these teams from paper creation, through standardization up till grade awarding and post session management. The post holder will liaise with the digital subject manager to support digitalization of assessment for Geography, as well as with other colleagues who support assessment delivery, i.e. Production and Operations teams. The successful applicant will also work closely with other departments of the IB, particularly those within the Education Office, and will part take in ADD/Group 3 initiatives. There may be opportunities for occasional overseas travel to represent the subject at curriculum meetings or conferences as required. Key Responsibilities Demonstrate leadership of a team of examiners and assessment content developers Lead authoring teams to produce high quality assessments in compliance with departmental guidelines Implement effective standardization processes and monitor the marking of assessment material Analyse assessment statistics to draw conclusion on assessment validity and reliability Plan and manage expenses related to designated tasks/subjects, as appropriate Communicate with internal and external stakeholders any relevant information or advice on assessment related matters for the designated subject(s) in a variety of languages Represent the assessment perspective in curriculum review Manage administrative tasks related to allocated portfolio subject(s) In addition, colleagues are encouraged to be involved in wider departmental initiatives. About You Essential A qualification at degree level, relevant to the subject manager’s designated subject(s) Significant and relevant post-qualification experience in educational assessment, teaching or research Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy The ability to analyse and draw conclusions from statistical information Excellent spoken and written skills in English (the working language of the IB Global Centre) The ability to lead and work within a team and to foster a collaborative environment Competence in using standard office software (including Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint) A willingness to accommodate innovative ways of working with and using digital technology The ability to manage multiple projects to agreed timelines The ability to present effectively for a variety of audiences and purposes Understanding the confidential nature of assessment and ensuring the desired security level is maintained Other Special Requirements: Flexibility to work weekends during peak examinations sessions (May/June, November/December) and occasionally at unsociable hours – we run flexi hours policy to compensate for any overtime.
