What the day will look like
We are currently seeking an experienced Marine Liability Claims Handler to join our Chelmsford based team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to take on a pivotal role managing complex liability claims across a diverse marine portfolio. The successful candidate will be confident handling high-value and technical claims, working with a wide range of stakeholders within the London Market.
1. Handle a variety of marine liability claims and Ports & Terminal package policies.
2. Assess coverage, investigate liability, and manage claims through to resolution.
3. Work closely with brokers, underwriters, legal counsel, and third-party experts.
4. Ensure timely and accurate claims reporting and reserving.
5. Support clients with technical advice and guidance throughout the claims process.
6. Contribute to internal process improvements and knowledge sharing.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
* Minimum 5 years of experience in marine liability claims handling, ideally in the Lloyd’s/London Market.
* Strong understanding of marine liability policy wordings and applicable legal frameworks.
* Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
* Proven ability to manage complex caseloads independently.
* Familiarity with ECF/class systems and other market tools.
