Mechanical Fitter
Stafford - travel required
30k-50k (plus overtime)
Roles & Responsibilities
Interpret mechanical drawings and specifications for the installation of substation infrastructure.
Assemble, fit, align, and bolt mechanical components such as support structures, busbars, earth bars, and associated steelwork.
Conduct installation and maintenance of mechanical plant and support systems (e.g., HVAC, earthing systems).
Work under the direction of a Site Supervisor, escalating issues where necessary.
Mark up drawings with "as-installed" status.
Complete and sign onto RAMS and daily Point of Work Risk Assessments (PoWRAs).
Comply with all National Grid SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) procedures and site access rules.
Participate in daily briefings and toolbox talks.
Requirements
National Grid Persons qualifications (mandatory).
Manual Handling, Working at Height, and Abrasive Wheels (where applicable).
First Aid (1day).
CSCS card.
Experience with torque wrenches, hand tools, grinders, hydraulic jacks.
Experience using MEWPs, telehandlers (with CPCS/NPORS tickets as required).
Experience with lifting gear, winches, and hoists.
