Carers Trust Heart of England is seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Support Workers to join its highly rated team in Coventry. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing care, a caring and empathetic nature, and the ability to build strong, supportive relationships with carers and individuals receiving care.
This flexible role offers between 16 to 40 hours per week and welcomes applicants with a driving licence and access to a car. However, the organisation also supports those who walk, cycle, or use public transport. Young Carers are also a key focus, with dedicated support in place to help them succeed academically, enjoy valuable respite, and reach their full potential.

About the Role
Carers Trust Heart of England’s core aim is to support unpaid carers and their families by providing the highest possible quality services, information, advice, and support.
The provision of our Care Support Services enables us to meet our aims in supporting unpaid carers to have a life alongside their caring role and some much-needed respite time, by providing the highest standards of care and support to the person they look after.
Our Care Support Services provide help, assistance, and support to enable people to live as independently as possible in their own homes and to socialise in the community.
Care Support Workers assist with personal care, light domestic duties and sometimes shopping, as well as companionship and reassurance. They may also provide support outside of the home to enable attendance to GP / hospital appointments and access to opportunities within the community, such as visits to the opticians, hairdressers or place of worship.
Main Responsibilities
* To provide support to carers and people with care needs, including emotional support.
* To provide personal care where required as part of a care and support plan.
* To carry out domestic tasks where required as part of a care and support plan.
Main Duties
* Assist with personal hygiene, e.g. helping the person with care needs to have a bath/shower, go to the toilet or care for their skin/hair.
* Assist with dressing/undressing, choice of clothes and appearance.
* Support with medication as part of a care and support plan.
* Assist with mobility including the use of wheelchairs, hoists etc.
* Assist with therapeutic programme(s) as part of a care and support plan.
* Provide emotional support, companionship, and a safe environment for those in need of care and support.
* Carry out basic first aid and summon emergency services, where needed.
* Report any concerns about abuse or the welfare or safety of any adult or child there is contact with at work to a line manager, nominated person and/or person on call.
* Undertake specialised tasks as agreed and after appropriate training, for example, administration of medication by specialised techniques, toenail care and assistance with oxygen therapy.
* Support people with activities outside their home, for example community activities, shopping or attending medical appointments.
* Provide support with organised group activities for people with care needs.
* Prepare meals and drinks and aid with eating/drinking.
* Help with tasks in the home including cleaning for example: washing up, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom and doing laundry and or other tasks e.g. supporting with pet care, including but not exclusive of feeding and watering.

Skills & Experience Required
* Experience in providing care.
* Ability to develop good working relationships with carers and people with care needs.
* Ability to demonstrate a caring and compassionate nature.
* Understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and children.
* Ability to work within the Coventry area in a time and cost effective manner (a valid driving licence and car access is preferred).
* Applicants must be willing to undergo screening appropriate to the post, including reference checks with past employers and an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
Please Note – Carers Trust do not hold a Sponsorship Licence and are therefore unable to sponsor workers on a Skilled Worker Visa.
