Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Learning Disabilities Psychiatry to join our team in Carmarthen. The Consultant will play a pivotal role in providing expert psychiatric care to individuals with learning disabilities, contributing to the enhancement of mental health services in Carmarthen, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient-centered care.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evaluations of individuals with learning disabilities.
2. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices and clinical expertise.
3. Provide specialized psychiatric care, including medication management, behavioral interventions, and psychotherapy, to address the unique needs of individuals with learning disabilities.
4. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, nurses, social workers, and support workers, to coordinate care and ensure holistic support for patients.
5. Lead and participate in case conferences, team meetings, and clinical supervision sessions to review patient progress, discuss treatment strategies, and optimize outcomes.
6. Contribute to the development and implementation of service improvements and innovations to enhance the quality and effectiveness of psychiatric care for individuals with learning disabilities.
Qualifications:
7. Medical degree from a recognized institution.
8. Completion of specialist training in Psychiatry and eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register.
9. Extensive experience and expertise in providing psychiatric care to individuals with learning disabilities.
10. Strong clinical skills in conducting psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
12. Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of developments in the field of Learning Disabilities Psychiatry.
