The Optical Manufacturing Technician will support aspects relating to the manufacture and development of new and existing manufacturing methods considering quality, efficiency, tooling, cost, and process flow. Your knowledge and experience will be key to building and maintaining a successful organisation.

Reporting to the UK Operations Manager you will have the opportunity to shape the business and drive the strategy on precision optics in cutting-edge technologies, where precision and performance are key differentiators.
Responsibilities
* Set-up and operate high precision optical manufacturing equipment to fabricate optical components. Programme and optimise process parameters for specific optical materials.
* Perform high precision surface metrology measurements utilizing Interferometers and other high precision instruments. Evaluate and optimise process parameters and address any deviations from desired tolerances.
* Maintain detailed records on machine parameters, process adjustments and generate reports on process performance and yield.
* Manufacture high precision optical components / assemblies to the highest standard.
* Inspect and qualify own work (and that of others) to ensure the highest quality of product is manufactured.
* Ability to read technical drawings and process notes to complete all manufacturing operations.
* Evaluates existing manufacturing processes (CNC / Traditional) and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements.
* Maintain data input to company ERP system, ensuring operational data and labour hour postings are accurate.
* Assist implementation of LEAN and CI practices across the organization, reducing waste in material consumption and process flow.
* Ensure production area is clean and tidy at all times and free from trip and slip hazards as far as practical.
* Support UK and wider ML Group with process setup and ongoing improvements.
* Provide Operational Manufacturing support when required as part of company progression.
* Support training of new and existing processes, training of new operations / technicians.
* Support any additional role relevant activities to achieve company objectives.
Experience
* At least 5 years’ experience in optics manufacturing environment or similar high precision manufacturing sector.
* Strong experience of working with manufacturing engineering teams within a NPI environment.
* Demonstrate good verbal and written communication and have the ability to work with colleagues to achieve individual and team targets.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Good working knowledge of configuration management, Engineering Control Order, Root Cause Analysis etc.
* Awareness of optical manufacturing & assembly techniques, mechanical engineering principles, latest manufacturing philosophies, measurement system analysis, process capability.
* Understanding of quality management systems (ISO9001) and corresponding interfaces to engineering through change control process.
* LEAN/ Six Sigma processes desirable.
