The successful candidate will lead and manage the Criminal & Financial Investigation (CFI) teams based in the Southeast Command. The role requires effective resource management to disrupt organised immigration crime by both judicial and non-judicial activity.
This is an exciting, dynamic, fast paced and challenging role in a high profile environment attracting Ministerial and media interest.
You will lead Southeast (SE) Command in its investigative response and resource management in collaboration with the Regional Head of Investigation. This will ensure that cases are adopted, investigated and impact against organised immigration crime is achieved through the command’s actions.
SE Command deal with both reactive case referrals and proactive criminal investigations that utilise overt and covert investigative techniques and often involve close working with wider UK and overseas law enforcement agencies. You will be expected to lead the investigative response in these areas. An understanding of international engagement, intelligence pathways and covert investigative processes is a key component of delivering the role.
Confident communication is required to represent both SE Command, and CFI as a whole, in meetings with Ministers, Senior Civil Servants and VIP’s visiting the region; this is a regular requirement of the role and is undertaken with internal stakeholders to promote a unified response process and strategy particularly to small boat activity.
You will be expected to actively develop staff, promote well-being and a balanced work life approach with your staff to ensure staff are fully supported and valued.
You will be work closely with Border Force, Kent Police, National Crime Agency, His Majesty’s Revenue & Customs, Crown Prosecution Service and internal Immigration Enforcement (IE) units to achieve results.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):
* Managing investigation progress to ensure that appropriate resource, experience and activity is being used to progress investigations expeditiously. Balancing risk, powers and legislation against desired outcomes.
* Line Management of staff, ensuring compliance with staff reporting policy and development of staff is regularly undertaken.
* Represent CFI and Region with internal and external stakeholder’s to promote activity and agree strategic approach to collaborative working and processes.
* Actively engage with investigation staff to promote best practice, techniques and approach to promulgate an understanding of impacting organised immigration crime groups activity.
* Prioritisation of competing tasks in a high pressure and dynamic environment, with focus on achieving results.
* Display strong communication skills to explain complex issues in varying formats and to different audiences, including drafting of reports for senior officials and Ministers.
