Overview
We are seeking a skilled Brick Mason to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in masonry and be proficient in various building techniques. This role involves working with bricks, blocks, and other materials to construct and repair structures. The Brick Mason will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and durability of our projects while adhering to safety standards.
Responsibilities
1. Lay bricks, blocks, and other types of masonry units to construct walls, arches, and other structures.
2. Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine specifications and layout.
3. Mix mortar and grout according to specified ratios for optimal adhesion.
4. Use hand tools and power tools effectively for cutting, shaping, and finishing masonry materials.
5. Perform repairs on existing structures, including repointing and replacing damaged bricks.
6. Collaborate with other tradespeople such as carpenters and welders to ensure seamless project execution.
7. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following health and safety regulations.
Skills
1. Proficient in bricklaying techniques with a solid understanding of masonry principles.
2. Experience with hand tools such as trowels, chisels, and levels as well as power tools for masonry work.
3. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications accurately.
4. Knowledge of roofing techniques is advantageous for projects involving brickwork on roofs.
5. Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on quality workmanship.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise during construction.
7. Physical stamina and strength to perform manual tasks over extended periods.
