Long-Term Teachers have a unique opportunity to join one of our biggest special schools in Devon, providing outstanding educational care and support to students of all ages. Our school is seeking a talented, experienced, bubbly and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.
Based on a stunning campus surrounded by beautiful woodland and the seaside, our school caters for students with autism and complex needs from 3 - 19 years. They are currently seeking to appoint two HLTA’s to work on their lower site, providing essential cover and support for students from EYFS all the way up to year 6. There may be the odd occasion where you are asked to go on the upper site too.
With an adapted curriculum, no two days are the same. They have fantastic provisions such as a forest school, woodland walk, bike trail, swimming pool and much more! If you are an outgoing person who loves the outdoors, this is certainly a place you will love to work!
Responsibilities:
* Delivering whole class cover during the absence of the class teacher or during PPA cover
* Support the teacher in personalising the curriculum to allow the students to thrive
* Support the teacher with planning of future lessons
* Implement the schools policies and procedures, including safeguarding the students
* Establish and maintain and enjoyable and safe learning environment
* Engage students in their lessons and foster a love for learning
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SEN and strategies to support a diverse range of needs. You must have excellent communication skills and be able to work well within a team. Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting young people is essential. You will have a Level 3 or 4 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools, Level 4 Diploma in Childcare and Education, or other relevant qualifications in nursery work or childcare.
