Electronics Technician/Fitter
Here at HTZ we design and manufacture automated robotic instruments and supply products into medical and research laboratories all over the world. Our products are installed in some of the leading clinical diagnostic laboratories around the world, so the quality of assembly work performed is critical in maintaining accurate and reliable results for a range of critical diagnostic tests. We are based in West Sussex and currently seeking an Electronics Technician/Fitter to work as part of the production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing a wide range of electronic and electromechanical devices, including printed circuit boards and power supplies. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering concepts, the ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams and the ability to carry out soldering is essential.
Key responsibilities and activities
* To join a small manufacturing team that builds up complete instruments from a variety of components.
* To work with a variety of components and sub-assemblies for our range of robotic laboratory equipment.
* To work with basic electronics and wiring, modifying and repairing looms.
* To build up, rework and modify PCBs.
* To work closely with our design and service engineers to ensure quality of product is maintained and to provide feedback on any improvements in design or build procedures as required.
* Fault finding. Analyse and understand the functionality of existing electronic and electromechanical devices to diagnose issues and develop repair strategies.
* Perform detailed repairs to electronic units, ensuring restoration to full functionality.
* Competent use of soldering equipment and knowledge of various solder joints. Working with surface mount and through hole technologies.
* Read and interpret complex circuit diagrams to assist in troubleshooting and repairs.
* The ability to use meters, oscilloscopes, bench power supplies, logic analysers and other test equipment to diagnose faults and verify repairs.
* Conduct thorough testing of repaired devices to ensure reliability and performance standards are met.
* Maintain detailed records of repair procedures, including diagnostics and parts used.
* The ability to read drawings, wiring diagrams and PCB level schematic diagrams.
* Working to our BSI standards.
* To carry out ad-hoc duties involved within the production area.
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes and experience:
Essential
* Be fully conversant and experienced in the use of hand tools.
* Have experience of electronics assembly work.
* Have experience in electronics and wiring.
* Be self-motivated, conscientious and have a responsible attitude.
* Enjoy working in a small, hardworking, team environment.
* Discipline in checking your own and others’ work.
* Skilled in soldering small components.
Desirable
* Have experience of working to the high standards as expected of a ISO 9001 registered company.
