Management Accountant

Join a Corporate Resources team as a Management Accountant, where you will provide essential financial management support and business advice to a service department. This role is crucial in ensuring strong financial governance and strategic financial planning within a local authority.
Day-to-day of the role:
1. Gain a thorough understanding of the Department and its operations to ensure financial advice supports effective decision making.
2. Keep updated with changes in the Council’s operations, providing relevant financial advice on partnerships and projects.
3. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Department’s needs to identify financial issues and support the Business Partner team.
4. Deliver accurate and timely financial information for the Service Department, including financial reporting, analysis, and planning.
5. Support the development of management reports and systems to link financials with operational activity and targeted outcomes.
6. Explore options to optimise financial performance both short and long term, and support financial analysis for continuous improvement.
7. Ensure the Council’s financial management policies and procedures are effectively communicated and implemented within the Department.
8. Provide support for an efficient year-end closure of accounts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
1. Fully AAT, Part Qualified or Fully CCAB Qualified
2. Experience within a Management Accounting role
3. Experience in accounting procedures within a complex financial environment.
4. Proficiency in communicating technical financial information to non-finance specialists.
5. Experience with large footprint ERP systems, preferably Oracle, and reporting tools is highly desirable
6. Involvement in finance or business projects, with an understanding of project management principles.
