Vacancy: Mechanical Technician (Fitter) -Location: Brimsdown, UKJob Family: Engineering
As the Mechanical Technician (Fitter), you will perform mechanical maintenance tasks necessary to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of all production equipment and utility support systems at Brimsdown. You will install, repair, and maintain industrial equipment and machinery.
This position is on a 5 On / 4 Off Rotation, 12 hour days - Day Shift Only. (06:00AM - 18:00PM).
Your responsibilities:
* Construct structural components following mechanical drawings (blueprints).
* Fabricate metallic or plastic parts following mechanical drawings or reverse engineering the part.
* Test equipment and carry out prestart checks / commissioning.
* Identify cause of faulty parts and equipment (troubleshooting).
* Occasionally, use measuring equipment and produce sketch drawings.
* Repair manufacturing equipment such as pumps, fans, conveyors, rotary valves, lifts, ball mills, rotary furnaces, etc.
* Carry out preventive maintenance (PPM) and inspections as required.
* Carry out repairs on industrial piping systems containing fluids such as steam, water, chlorine, acid, caustic, oxygen, argon, nitrogen, etc.
Requirements for the role:
Due to the nature of this role applicants must be non-smokers and have been free from nicotine products for at least 3 months.
* Completed a recognized Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship / vocational training.
* At least Level 2 Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, fabrication and welding engineering technology, maintenance technology and installation and repair of engineering technology. Essential.
* Mechanical maintenance experience gained in manufacturing / industrial environments, or heavy machinery maintenance.
* Working knowledge of CMMS (SAP) (Desirable).
* Chemical Safety Awareness / COSHH / Fire Safety Awareness / DSEAR / PUWER (Desirable).
* LOLER / Manual Handling / Risk Assessments / IPAF / Gas Safety / Boilers (Desirable).
