At Chivas Brothers, our 1,600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future, as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe. The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the final product is delivered. In addition, Operations play a very active role in Innovation, Talent Development and Operational Risk Management. The Bottling Operations teams are based across three factories at our Kilmalid Campus in Dumbarton. The site produces over 20 million cases of flagship brands every year such as Beefeater, Glen Livet, Chivas and Ballantine’s, the focus on quality is paramount. In addition to Quality focus, we put Safety First above anything else whilst we deliver our customer’s expectations and business targets in efficiency and cost. Your unique contribution The role of the Reliability Engineer is t o drive and instil engineering best practices, achieved through direct and indirect teams. You will be focussed on equipment reliability and striving for zero preventable unplanned losses, through thorough root cause and problem-solving techniques. Also, as part of the local area Management team, you will set, maintain and coach in order to develop the operation in all aspects of Asset Care, including Autonomous Maintenance. You will have four main areas of responsibility: Asset Care To develop and agree the Asset Care Continuous Improvement strategy, applying and leading Implementation Actions which best benefit local area. To demonstrate improved performance through weekly review and analysis of line To upskill Team Leader and Multi-Skilled Technicians in Asset Care principles, tools & techniques. Engineering Management To lead the local Engineering Maintenance Teams and be accountable for Loss Elimination, Risk Management and Life Cycle Asset Management. To define the area Maintenance Plan accounting for production demand & assess the efficiency of execution, controlling any required external maintenance contracts. To lead Root Cause Analysis of equipment failures to drive future performance improvement and management of maintenance system. To ensure all Engineering procedures and standards are up to date and understood and will manage and take full responsibility for spend, control and prioritisation. Reliability To support Daily Operations through attendance and support at meetings and escalated issues or breakdowns and support NPD and Packaging Engineering projects and initiatives. To identify CAPEX replacement and upgrade plans aligned with business objectives, and support or lead execution, as well as creating forward plan with User Requirement Briefs (URBs) for consideration at CAPEX SteerCo. Provide technical expertise Input into functional specifications for all projects and facilitate and support Root Cause Analysis on process issues and drive improvement actions. Safety & Quality To take the lead for investigations and actions into any safety related issues and define and implement prioritised actions for any Lost Time Accidents or High Potential near misses, with full review of all associated processes. To look for safety improvements and ensure compliance with any implemented solutions. To support investigations into any quality complaints, to determine root cause and implement any engineering corrective and preventative actions. To support all audits as required from a technical perspective, defining and implementing improvements as required. Who you’ll be working with I nternally, you will collaborate with all areas of Manufacturing, including Bottling, Vatting, Quality, Health and Safety and New Product Development as well as other functions such as HR and Finance. Externally, you will collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure delivery of services to the highest standard. Your blend of talent This position could be right for you if you: Are qualified to minimum HNC level in relevant engineering discipline. Have previous experience in a lead / supervisory role, leading engineering teams. Have experience working within a packaging, processing, manufacturing or FMCG environment.
