Senior Mental Health Practitioner / Duty Lead

We have an exciting opportunity for a newly created post for a Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner / Duty Lead Mental Health Nurse to join the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
You will lead the duty function of the CMHT and act as the key link with Community Mental Health Framework hubs, building a good working relationship to develop the service and support joint working with triage, assessment and complex casework in line with the Trust and team vision.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in older adult mental health services and understand the challenges that working with this client group brings. However, if you have transferrable skills and are motivated to learn about our client group, we encourage you to apply.
Main duties of the job
As a senior clinician within the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team, you will act as an autonomous practitioner, demonstrating high level of practice/knowledge to include advanced mental health assessment and leadership skills. You will act as a role model, health care provider, educator, clinical advocate, and implementer of clinical governance which you will use to guide and supervise other members of the team.
Day to day, you will lead the team in skilled triage of referrals and prioritisation of urgent clinical need. You will be the key contact with the CMHF hubs, supporting triage processes and ensuring patients have smooth transitions when they access mental health support.
The post holder will carry a small, defined complex case load and will be required to undertake urgent assessments and supervise and support other clinicians to do so. The post holder will also provide home treatment for patients experiencing a mental health crisis.

Job responsibilities
We cover the geographical area of South Oxfordshire,Our main office is in Abingdon, but we have a base in Wallingford and hot desking space for staff covering those areas. The MDT is made up of Medical, Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Psychology colleagues and we highly regard one another's professional background and contribution to the care of our patients. We view supervision as fundamental to the functioning of the team both clinically and in terms of the wellbeing of our staff.
Core working hours are Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00. Out-of-hours support services are managed via a team rota. Staff will be expected to work on this rota which includes occasional weekend 09:00-17:00 shifts and evening shifts in the week between 17:00-20:00.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Relevant Professional Qualification (RMN or Occupational Therapist).
* Qualification in management and leadership within a healthcare setting
Experience
* To have a good knowledge of community services both generic and mental health
* Experience of providing leadership
* Formal and informal teaching, including supervision of students
* Experience of supervising and managing staff
Knowledge
* A specialist knowledge and clinical expertise in community mental health.
* Advanced knowledge of the range of presentations, diagnoses and current management options
