Saint Mary’s Hospital Managed Clinical Service is the largest maternity service in the country providing care for women across Manchester, its surrounding areas and the North West. Saint Mary's Hospital is a well-known centre of excellence with a vibrant and lively working atmosphere. We currently have exciting opportunities in Midwifery to include care across the pregnancy continuum including the Manchester Birth Centre and as part of our continuity of care pathway. We provide intrapartum care in all settings from home birth, co-located birth centre to a complex consultant led delivery unit with an integrated high dependency unit.
To join us, you will be an experienced Band 6 Registered Midwife with a desire to specialise in Antenatal services for women under the care of the Maternal Medicine service. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to:
1. Develop and implement programmes of evidenced based care planning for patient group and their families including reproductive health care.
2. Develop personalised care plans.
3. Ensure women and their families receive information in a sensitive way to enable them make an informed decision.
4. Provide direct patient care and have detailed clinical knowledge of the specialist area.
5. Assist the Maternal Medicine team to ensure that high standards of quality of care are delivered & maintained.
6. Support the team to tackle health inequalities and social exclusion.
7. Identify local, demographic, cultural and environmental factors that influence the health and quality of life for the identified patient group and their families.
8. Act as a resource in the coordination and effective management of the admission and discharge process.
9. Ensure that child protection and vulnerable adult legislation is adhered to within own practice and service.
10. Support the development and evaluation of policies/guidelines/protocols for speciality clinical practice and support the updating and monitoring of policies/guidelines/protocols specific to the role within MFT.
11. Provide a visible clinical profile, having both an advisory and clinical input into patient care.
12. Prepare accurate and concise reports both verbal and written.
