Job summary We are inviting applicants to apply for the Clinical Fellow in Urology at Ipswich Hospital. The post-holder's duties will be primarily at Ipswich Hospital but their presence may from time to time be required in other parts of the Trust. Main duties of the job All postholders will provide cover as general urologists for elective and emergency work. In addition to elective work, each Fellow will participate in a 1 in 8 week on call rota (registrar level) with prospective cover. Responsibilities will also include the supervision of junior staff, involvement in a regular teaching programme, participating in the weekly urology meetings (MDT/stone committee) and monthly departmental audit meetings. The postholder's primary focus will be to develop subspecialist expertise in the management of stone disease. The fellow will become proficient in obtaining percutaneous access for PCNL as well as developing the skills necessary for removal of the stone. Flexible ureteroscopy and laser of stones will be routine. Open and laparoscopic renal surgical training will be offered to those wanting to develop this skill, although these cases would be shared with the Urological Cancer Fellow.
