We are seeking to appoint a Highway Engineer to join our Highways Maintenance & Asset Management team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineer with a proven record, qualified to Degree level or other recognised Engineering based qualification.
Highways Maintenance & Asset Management provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in the workplace. We currently have a major Liverpool City Region and SMBC funded capital programme, working in collaboration with both internal and external partners as well as a substantial Highway revenue supported maintenance programme.
As a Highway Engineer, you will prepare and implement highway improvement and capital schemes, and revenue delivery works, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
About you
Are you qualified to Degree level or have equivalent technical experience in an engineering or transportation discipline; or possess equivalent experience within a local authority or organisation of comparable complexity?
With project management and highway maintenance experience, you will have the ability to monitor and manage budgets and build and maintain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of schemes.
You will have a broad knowledge of contract procurement and management, construction methods, materials, and practices, plus a knowledge of Approved Codes of Practice, highway standards, and health and safety, to enable effective design and supervision of highway improvement and maintenance projects.
In addition, you will have knowledge of the relevant design standards and specifications for highway schemes as well as the ability to design directly utilising industry lead software available.
